Today I find out the Brattle has regretfully had to cancel their screening of Fantastic Mr. Fox due to extended bookings at other theaters. I’m disappointed. I was really looking forward to seeing the double feature of Fantastic Mr. Fox and Where the Wild Things Are instead of the Super Bowl this Sunday.

A Dirty Shame was on TV, only it wasn’t the version I have. It appears the Sundance Channel is showing the R rated Neuter version and not the original NC-17 theatrical release. All the profanity is dubbed over, all the nudity is cut out, scenes are missing, sex act go without mention, and it is not nearly as funny a movie.

Today in our of my great aunt’s birthday a delicious roast pork dinner was held in her honor at my grandparents’ house. Long after dinner, cake and what have you Alyssa and I left to go to my house to watch the Simpsons, etcetera and eventually I Love You, Man in all in high def. I had forgotten how funny I Love You, Man is, but I digress…apparently sometime after we left the topic of the Tonight Show came up. Now my aunt has always been a staunch supporter and fan of Jay Leno. According to my brother she went on a small, but hilarious tirade how Jay Leno is the real victim and it was all the network and especially Conan’s fault. Of how Jay was the King of Late Night, he never wanted to leave his show, but the network and Conan conspired to take it away from him. I’m kind of disappointed I wasn’t around to witness it.

Looking out the window I can see a fire in the neighbor’s back yard across the street. I think they might be burning leaves, but the flames are awfully high. As destructive as fire can be it possess such ethereal beauty. As abruptly as the fire appeared it is gone again. Making me question its very existence.

In-between Home Alone 2 and Richie Rich Macaulay Culkin starred in the movie the Good Son where he plays among other things Elijah Wood’s cousin and a psychopath. With seemingly nothing else on and because I had been thinking about the movie I ended up watching it again. I can vaguely remember watching the movie when I was younger. Even if I didn’t remember much of the plot how creepy Macaulay Culkin is in movie has stuck with me.

Well, this afternoon I did it I beat Super Mario Bros. Wii. Although I beat Bowser awhile ago, saving the princess is only half the game-- the other part is collecting all the star coins. There are three coins in each level, when all the coins in each world are collected corresponding levels in world 9 are unlocked. Today I finally overcame a particularly hard level earning the last remaining coins. Sure it is a small accomplishment, but still an accomplishment nonetheless.

Today is apparently National Pie Day, and in honor of such occasional I watched Julia Child make a pie, does that count as celebrating?

Surely the dispute seems so trivial in light of the Haitian earthquake, but what with tonight turning out to be Conan’s last show as host of the Tonight Show, I thought I would weight in on the whole situation. Jay Leno stepped down from his hosting duties handing the reins over to Conan O’Brien and now after only seven months he is posed to take the late night talk show back. I never liked Jay Leno, and judging by the failure of his primetime talk show experiment neither did a lot of other people. He walked away, was given another show, and it failed… plain and simple. He should be the one leaving the network and not Conan. Sure he walking away with a huge severance package, millions of dollar, but he gave nearly twenty years of his life to the network only to host the Tonight Show for seven months before giving it back to its previous host. Yes, business is business… but there is also taking in account of fairness. It could be argued Jay Leno stole the Tonight Show the first time from David Letterman and now he has done it to Conan. I for one have no intentions of watching this new old Tonight Show, not that I would watch it before anyway. I used to watch Letterman and then flip over to Conan, oh sure occasionally if a guest interested me I would watch Leno, but that was very infrequent.
Conan had a great show tonight. It is sad to see him go.

Hates it when I'm trying to write something and for the life of me cannot figure out how to spell a particular word, worst of which when spell check and Google remain useless in aiding my struggles.

There is a new Milky Way bar. Instead of the familiar rich chocolate, creamy caramel and smooth nougat we’ve known and come to love since the 20’s this new bar boosts being real milk chocolate surrounding nothing but rich delicious caramel. You know, like a Caramello.
Seeing the box on the counter I knew I had to try this new Milky Way Simply Caramel bar. The regular Milk Ways were two for a dollar, and so I got the new one for the same price. After the first bite my suspicion was confirmed, they do taste like Caramellos. I like them, I definitely get it again.

I watched Conan before going to bed. Although going to bed at 12:30/1 o’clock doesn’t seem too late it is in when one is getting up at 6.

McDonald’s has come out with a new Snack Wrap, a variation on their famed flagship product the Big Max. This Mac wrap has all the components of the Big Mac except for one-- the sesame seed bun. Instead all of the ingredients are stuffed inside a warm flour tortilla. All and all I liked it. It tastes like a Big Mac only in a convenient snack size. I think I would be able to eat a couple of them, considering they only use half a pattie.

The other day I bought a bag of potato chips solely for the perceivably unusual flavor, baby back rips. On the bag predominately displayed on what passes for an apron surrounded by droplets of red “sauce” advertised these chops to have “finger lickin’ rib flavor!” As for the actual taste… they tasted like really good barbeque chips. I don’t know what else I could have been expecting.

While watching the Steve Wilkos Show I noticed during the commercial break it was either a commercial for some school or a law firm. Who does the advertisers think the audience of the show is? The unemployed or underemployed who might also have medical injuries? Perhaps.
